WHAT ARE GIANTS?
A giant is anything that STANDS between you and God's plan for you.
A giant is anything that SEEMS bigger than you and your desire to serve the Lord.
A giant is that which is stronger than us and cannot be faced alone.
Giants come in many forms, physical, material, and even spiritual.
What are some of these giants that we face?
**Relationship difficulties
**Family Issues
**Unemployment or work problems
**Health issues, sickness, even death
**Financial Issues
When we look at the giants before us, the object is NOT to focus on all the ways the giant
might overcome us, but to concentrate on how we are going to slay the giant(s).
"He (David) picked up five smooth stones from a stream and put them in his shepherd's bag.
Then, armed only with his shepherd's staff and sling, he started across to fight Goliath." 1
Samuel 17:40 NLT
Pick up five smooth stones and start doing some giant slaying ourselves.
The first stone is the Stone of Responsibility
The person we have the most trouble with in our lives is
ourselves. We have to take responsibility for ourselves
and our actions. Responsible people are faithful to use
what they have been given.
Stone of Organization
If a cause is bigger than we are...then it will require our best
organizational skills. We have to do some planning in order to
make defeating that giant a reality. If you want to overcome the
giants in your life, you've got to get organized and plan to make it happen. When you are
going to fight giants, you can't just choose any old thing. You're putting your future on the line
so you might ought to take time to get organized and take time to prepare for the battle.
Stone of Commitment
Commitment is the beginning of trusting God. To commit everything to the Lord means
entrusting our life, family, our job, and all our possessions to His control and guidance.
Don't let yourself be satisfied...just being involved. Until you're
committed, there is a chance that you will hesitate or draw back.
Commitment is the key. Make a commitment.
Stone of Koinonia (cone-o-nee-a)
Koinonia is fellowship, sharing, or partnership.
This fellowship is demonstrated when we genuinely care for one
another and help meet each others needs. Caring is just an
emotion that says I care for you...Fellowship means we take action.
Koinonia can also mean a participation in communion.
Stone of "Taking a Stand"
The first step in any problem is to "begin". Over comers are inspired by a
challenge and are eager to win.
Over comers do not walk to the battle line...they RUN!
Courageous people risk their lives to take a stand and do what is right.
How can we be more bold when we take a stand?
We need to pray...pray for the power of the Holy Spirit to give us courage.
Because God is our refuge, we can dare to be bold and take a stand.
